Asset management firm Bitwise is bridging the gap between traditional equities and decentralized finance with the launch of its latest tokenized stock offerings. Developed in collaboration with Coinbase, the initiative aims to provide international investors with seamless exposure to diversified stock baskets.
Unlike traditional brokerage models, these portfolios leverage blockchain technology to allow eligible investors to hold their assets directly. By utilizing Coinbase’s infrastructure, the tokens remain under the user's personal control, eliminating the need for a centralized intermediary to manage the custody of the underlying securities.
A standout feature of this release is the automated rebalancing mechanism embedded within the smart contracts. This allows the portfolios to maintain their target allocations without requiring manual intervention from the investor, mirroring the efficiency of modern algorithmic trading.
This move marks a significant expansion for Bitwise as it looks to capture the growing demand for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). By focusing on self-custody, the firm is betting that global investors will increasingly prioritize financial sovereignty alongside market accessibility.
