Five companies within the Adani conglomerate have finalized a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The agreement resolves ongoing adjudication proceedings concerning alleged lapses in corporate governance and disclosure standards.
The regulatory inquiry followed intense scrutiny triggered by the 2023 Hindenburg Research report, which leveled various allegations against the group. The firms involved agreed to pay a combined sum of ₹1.51 crore to conclude the matter.
Crucially, the settlement was reached without the companies admitting to or denying the findings of the regulator. This move allows the group to move past the immediate legal uncertainty surrounding these specific disclosure claims.
The resolution marks another step in Adani’s broader efforts to restore market confidence and address the regulatory questions raised in the wake of the short-seller report. The group continues to navigate ongoing audits and oversight as it seeks to stabilize its market position.
