Carnelian Capital is expanding its footprint by venturing into the private equity space. The firm, currently managing assets worth approximately ₹18,300 crore, plans to raise a dedicated maiden fund of ₹2,000 crore within the next 12 to 18 months.
The strategic shift aims to fill a distinct gap in the market. Carnelian intends to target profitable businesses seeking growth capital in the ₹100-300 crore range, a segment that has become increasingly underserved as global private equity funds transition toward larger, mega-deal transactions.
Strategic Objectives:
- Focus on mid-market companies with proven profitability.
- Deployment of capital to fuel growth and operational scale.
- Filling the void left by firms migrating to larger deal sizes.
By narrowing its focus on mid-cap growth, the firm hopes to leverage its existing expertise in portfolio management to provide tailored solutions for companies that require specialized capital injections rather than generalized venture funding.
