Power Grid Corporation of India has officially cleared a proposal to elevate its total borrowing ceiling from Rs 1.8 lakh crore to Rs 2.2 lakh crore. The move is currently pending formal authorization from the company's shareholders.

As part of its broader capital optimization strategy, the firm is also set to tap into overseas debt markets. Plans are underway to raise USD 500 million through External Commercial Borrowings to diversify its funding sources.

Beyond debt restructuring, the utility giant has greenlit fresh capital expenditure. The board has sanctioned a new investment worth Rs 772 crore, signaling a continued commitment to infrastructure development and grid expansion.

This strategic financial shift positions the power major to sustain its capital-intensive operations while managing liquidity across domestic and global markets.
