Japanese investment giant SoftBank has executed a significant sell-off in Lenskart, disposing of a 2.6% stake in the prominent eyewear unicorn. The secondary market transaction, valued at Rs 2,888 crore, signals a strategic rebalancing of the firm's portfolio within the Indian retail tech landscape.

Following this block deal, SoftBank’s ownership in the company has retracted from 9.86% to 7.28%. The sell-off saw robust participation from a diverse array of institutional investors, spanning both domestic and international funds looking to secure a foothold in the rapidly scaling retailer.

Despite the high-volume activity, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority’s Platinum Jasmine Trust maintains its status as the largest public shareholder in the enterprise. The market reacted with modest caution, as Lenskart Solutions shares saw a marginal dip on the BSE in the immediate wake of the trade.

This move is being viewed by analysts as a standard lifecycle event for venture capital entities looking to monetize early-stage investments. While the stake sale is substantial, Lenskart continues to command significant valuation confidence from major global backers.
