Carnelian Asset Management & Advisors has officially received the green light from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to enter the mutual fund space. This regulatory milestone marks a significant shift for the firm, which has historically built its reputation through Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs).
Founded by industry veteran Vikas Khemani, the firm plans to leverage its institutional expertise to offer a broad spectrum of financial products. Investors can expect a mix of active and passive strategies, spanning equity, debt, and hybrid asset classes.
The move allows Carnelian to diversify its reach beyond its existing high-net-worth client base. By tapping into the mutual fund market, the firm intends to capture a larger share of the retail investment ecosystem.
"This approval is a pivotal step in our growth journey as we aim to provide retail investors with the same rigorous investment philosophy that has driven our success in the AIF and PMS sectors," the firm indicated in its growth strategy.
