In a move to refine market efficiency, BSE Clearing has officially rolled out three-day Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) contracts. This development aims to grant market participants greater agility when managing their short-term borrowing and delivery requirements.
The new framework, which became active on August 17, features a streamlined settlement cycle. The structure includes a T+1 first leg and a T+3 reverse leg, allowing for rapid execution of borrowing strategies within a compact timeframe.
Initially, these specialized contracts are being applied to F&O-eligible securities, distinguished under the D-series prefix. By expanding the options available for securities lending, the exchange intends to reduce settlement friction and support active institutional and retail participation.
Market analysts view this addition as a pivotal step in strengthening the ecosystem for derivatives and spot trading. With these short-term instruments, the BSE continues to align its infrastructure with the evolving needs of a fast-paced financial landscape.
